I grew up just south of Stanthorpe, even though it’s a beautiful place, and so i fully recommend a visit there, let me tell you, in the winter months it can get quite cold!
I had been a certain amount of wussy little kid (now I’m a wussy adult) and while I don’t mind the climate being cold, I personally don’t like being cold. Thus I had a power blanket. Sometimes I’d “forget” to turn them back, yet still be toasty warm and reluctant to put my toes out in the -5 mornings…
And So I understand the appeal of an electric blanket, and exactly how nice it can be for another thing to get keeping you warm on those quite chilly nights. However, it isn’t really useful to you.
The major reason electric blankets aren’t useful to you may be the obvious one: it’s a fire risk. Because they’re folded / rolled up half the season, and so on a bed with bodies lying on the top and having wrinkled for section of the year, the wiring may be placed within fair volume of stress. As we age, the insulation round the wires can become brittle or broken, which could lead to shocks on the sleeper, or short-circuits and potential fires.
The second easy minimise likelihood of fires or shocks from http://abestpro.com/best-electric-blankets/ is to have it checked each year, before you use it, by a qualified electrician. The individual will look into the visible wiring and connections, and test the voltage and current, which will indicate whether there’s a quick circuit, and give you advice accordingly. If in every doubt, throw it out!!
The subsequent primary reason you must reduce electric blanket use is mainly because it may produce a high electrical and electromagnetic field, through which you’re sleeping. Or trying to. The entire body communicates electrically, and electrical or electromagnetic fields could cause insomnia, restless or non-restful sleep, that “jumping” feeling you sometimes be in muscles, anxiety and sometimes nightmares.
Of course, another best way to reduce these risks is usually to shut down the electric blanket prior to getting in bed, or at least within 5 minutes to getting in. This could also prevent b1ankets in the middle of the evening within a hot sweat… something I actually have done frequently as a forgetful child!
You’ll note I’ve said these choices second best. That’s because your best option is actually to never make use of an electric blanket at all.
The other choices are there? Well, there’s always that lovely standby, the hot water bottle. These are generally awesome, cheap, you can get really cute and cosy covers for these people, plus they possess the added bonus which can be used them as a COLD water bottle in summer.
